A late 18th early 19th (1790-1820) George III boxwood strung mahogany cellarette-on-stand or Tantalus, the hinged top opening to reveal nine bottle divisions having six bottles and brass carrying handles mounted to the sides. Satinwood banding, string marquetry inlaid top, seated on brass castors and measuring approx 28" tall x 14" x 14". Note lock is not working. Originally purchased from Shaker Square antiques in Cleveland, OH as shown with interior gallery tag. See photos for details. Provenance: from an important Cleveland Ohio private collection
