Great pair of quality Victorian era carved walnut strung up rabbit would look great in man cave or lodge which can have many meanings including the loss of innocence, evil/witchcraft, bad luck, the harsh reality of nature (predator/prey), a warning of danger, or, paradoxically, transformation and rebirth, the cycle of life and death, mortality, and sometimes the themes of hunting, sacrifice, or a, "breaking" of energy. Second strung-up dead pheasant/game bird carry multiple, often contradictory, symbolic meanings ranging from traditional, practical, and artistic to spiritual and ominous interpretations to lavish, abundant lifestyle, luxury, and the wealth of the landowner. Measuring approx. 14" to 15.25" tall. In good condition, see photos.
