Description
Impressive late 19th century French bronze portrait bust of Ênoble aristocratic woman by Ernest Rancoulet (b.1870 – d.1915). Depicting the young woman turning her gaze slightly downward with a soft enigmatic smile. Her intricately detailed, cascading ringlets flow from beneath a dramatic, wide brimmed hat lavishly adorned with large, flowing ostrich plumes. She is wearing a single-strand pearl necklace over an open neckline, framed by an exquisitely cast, wide lace patterned collar finished with a prominent central bow. Front fascia adorned by a heraldic shield plaque featuring a rampant lion and the French Royal motto "Dieu Et Mon Roy" (God and my right). Measuring approx. 26" tall by 13 1/2" wide.
