Lot 143:
Pittsburgh Reverse Painted Winter Landscape Shade and Base Lamp
Description
Art Nouveau dual-lit table lamp featuring six panel reverse painted glass shade and illuminated matching base. The domed shade is composed of curved glass panels meticulously reverse-painted with a continuous. panoramic winter sunset landscape. The scene depicts a snow-covered countryside featuring rustic yellow log cabins, snow-dusted evergreens and bare deciduous trees, and a lone figure walking along a path. The landscape is set against a dramatic sky transitioning from deep cobalt blue at the crown to a vibrant, fiery orange-red sunset along the horizon. The lamp is supported by a heavy cast-metal base designed with a openwork overlay frame that houses four matching reverse-painted glass panels, illuminating a subtle continuation of the winter sky twilight. The patinated metalwork features textured bronze finish with classic Art Nouveau styling, featuring elegant scrollwork accents along the ribs, a flared stepped footer accented with a stylized cabochon-style molded geometric border, and matching foliate finial. Measuring approx. 23" tall by 19.5" diameter shade. In good age appropriate condition, see photos.
