Description
An endearing and highly stylized example of American naive folk art, this portrait depicts a young girl in a pink apron and green wide-brimmed hat with feathers holding an oversized black umbrella or parasol against a muted, natural background. Signed on lower right corner W.A. Foss in black paint. Housed in a heavy period ornate gilt plaster and gesso frame, featuring intricate deeply molded continuous foliate and beaded bordered. Measuring approx. 27.5" tall by 23.75" wide by 3" deep. Note; canvas having two tears approx. 1.5" and 3" tall, framed having gesso losses to top, bottom and minor side losses, see photos.
