Description
Set of three Victorian era tobacco embossed advertising premiums distributed to promote the premium "Yale Mixture" smoking tobacco brand. Each piece showcases how late 19th century tobacco firms capitalized on high culture, classical mythology, and contemporary celebrity to market their products. First titled "Psyche at Nature’s Mirror" after German master Paul Thumann 1889 painting, second, "The Bathing Beauty" (Cissy Fitzgerald) after photograph by Benjamin J. Falk, and third, "Monks at Table" after Eduard von Grutzner. Each measuring approx. 13.25" by 9".In age appropriate condition with some soiling and signs of age, see photos.
