Late Victorian era mixed media (graphite and charcoal) on paper, portrait capturing a tender allegorical scene of a young woman hand-feeding a nest of hungry baby birds. The subject is styled with a soft, upswept chignon hairstyle typical of the turn of the century, wearing a high-collard dress adorned with intricate lace detailing. She cradles a woven nest in one hand while delicately offering food to the small fledglings inside. Housed in its original unvarnished mitered oak frame. Measuring approx. 16.75" tall by 12.5" wide.
