Description
Limited Edition Steuben Glass "Cathedral" Obelisk designed by George Thompson. Tall prismatic form of clear colorless crystal is shaped and engraved to suggest a cathedral spire. By optical illusion, the engraved figures of the Apostles and architectural details appear to float and multiply in three dimensions with the glass itself. Corning, New York, circa 1972. Inscribed ‘Steuben’ original triangular mahogany stand, red leather case. Lot includes original triangular mahogany stand, red leather fitted case, and red leather presentation folio. Tall prismatic form of clear. Original retail price was $13,000 Measuring approx Ht. 16 1/4 W 6 D 3 3/4 in.
