A Grand and Fine HANDEL (Connecticut/New York, 1885-1936) table lamp, country road shade on forest base, Meriden, CT, des. 1914. Patinated metal SWAMPY motif, obverse- and reverse-painted acid-etched glass, three sockets Base stamped HANDEL, shade signed HANDEL 6230 with artist initials JB referring to John Bailey, and fitter stamped HANDEL Patent No. 979664. John Bailey was a prominent artist for Handel in the early 20th century (circa 1910–1920s), renowned for his skillful reverse-painted glass lamps and "Teroma" vases. He often specialized in detailed, scenic landscapes, including tropical scenes, mountain streams, and, notably, Jungle Birds designs. Measuring approx 23" x 18" diameter shade 8" tall shade.
