Description
An exceptionally large and dramatic mid century sterling silver over composite sculpture depicting a majestic bald eagle. The apex predator is realistically modeled with intensely focused eyes and hooked beak, captured at the moment of landing upon a craggy, multi-tiered rocky base. The birds wings are spread wide in a powerful, symmetrical display, highlighting deep, multi-layered plumage definition meticulously chased throughout the primaries and coverts. Hand finished heavy resin core and clad in sterling silver. This particular sculpture does not have the A. Gianelli or the Gold Line studio incised in base, gold beak or accents of black painted eyes, all silver, which likely makes it a early production piece. Measuring approx. 25" tall by 26.5" wide by 16" deep, very heavy. In good condition, with some silver wear/loss to top of head, likely being rubbed for decadesÊas good luck, see photos.
