Description
Late 19th century Charles Frederick William Mielatz (American, 1864-1919) original early work. Executed in 1888 watercolor on paper titled "Fishing Fleet at Newport" depicting a dense cluster of fishing vessels resting on a glassy, mirror like waters under a heavy, sun-bleached mist. Mielatz brilliantly utilizes a monochromatic tonal palette to evoke the damp, heavy atmosphere of a calm morning on the Rhode Island coast. Measuring approx. 17.75" tall by 26.75" wide. In good age appropriate condition with one small area of water to the mat only on bottom left, see photos.
