Description
American utilitarian baskets include; round oak or ash gathering or utilitarian basket with sturdy vertical splint and wrapped rim in a chocolate brown patina measuring approx. 12.5" tall by 10.75" wide, second, diminutive Appalachian split oak rib type egg or "Buttocks" basket, constructed with heavy bentwood handle and tightly interwoven with narrow, precise split oak splint. Notable for the beautifully executed, diamond weave "God eye" pattern wrapping the handle-to-rim joints. Measuring approx. 8" long by 6" tall. In good age appropriate condition with some areas of breaks, see photos.
