Lot 612:
Narkiz Nikolayevich Bunin "On the Next Day" Colored Print
Description
Framed period print, printed in 1897 after the notable 1891 oil on canvas "On the Next Day" by renowned Russian Imperial military officer and artist, Narkiz Nikolayevich Bunin. Rather than focusing on the glorious combat, "On the Next Day" turns a poignant lens toward the aftermath of conflict. The composition features a lone, masterless horse standing vigil over a desolate battlefield strewn with fallen infantrymen and overturned wagons beneath an ominous, overcast sky. Measuring approx. 17.75" tall by 20.5" wide. In good age appropriate condition with signs of age to frame, see photos.
