Description
Three books from the late 17th century. Contains one copy of Letters of the Cardinal-Duke Le Richelieu to Lewis XIII of France vol. 1 of 2 printed in 1697.Also includes first edition volumes 2 and 3 of Montaigne’s Essays printed in 1685 and looks to be acquired for the Duke of Bedford’s library in 1736. As these books near 400 years old they still maintain a very good condition. The Cardinal-Duke’s cover has some wear to show its age but is still in a single piece. Montaigne’s Essays volumes are in better condition with the covers still showing a supple flexibility. Some pages have small rips on the edges but no considerable damage within the book. See Photos.
