Description
Emil Fuchs was a highly versatile prominent Austrian-American sculptor, painter, and medalist. Born in Vienna, Fuchs trained t the Academy of Fine Arts before moving to and settling permanently in New York City. Renowned for his classical styling and fluid handling of form, his work captured the attention of high society and European royalty, including Queen Victoria and King Edward VII. His sculptures are held in major public institutions worldwide, including Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York and the Cleveland Museum of Art. This bronze sculpture titled "Seated Nude", created in 1913 depicts a kneeling-seated nude female with dark patina, mounted on an green marble octagonal carousal (360 rotation) base. Measuring approx. 21.5" tall by 12" wide base. Note; green marble base does have fractures and losses, structurally solid with no effect to the motion of rotation, see photos.
