Description
Signed Carl Gromoll 1983. Handcrafted of stack laminated carved and polished Baltic birch. Measuring approx 40.5" high x 28" wide x 34.5" deep. The chair is dramatically sinuous, yet comfortable, crafted by Wisconsin woodworker Carl Gromoll (b. 1950), executed in 1983. Meticulously and intensively handcrafted of stack-laminated, carved, and polished Baltic birch. Gromoll began making wooden objects in 1971, receiving a BS in Art from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1974. His work was included in the 2008 exhibition "Functional Sculpture: Furniture from the Upper Midwest, " at Carleton College, and in Donna Meilach’s "Creating Modern Furniture." (1975).
