Signed in lower left R. GRATHWOL oil painting on artisan panel board. crashing waves seascape. Measuring approx 32" h x 43" w overall including the frame and canvas size approx 24" x 36". Good condition, no issues Ray Anthony Grathwol (1900–1992) was an American self-taught painter, primarily known for his Ohio rural landscape paintings, including snow scenes and Akron street scenes. Born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, he lived and worked in the Akron area, creating paintings with frames often made by himself. Though he exhibited and won awards, his work was not widely appreciated during his lifetime, with his paintings becoming more sought after his death in 1992. His work was exhibited extensively during his lifetime at prestigious venues such as the Carnegie Institute, the New York World’s Fair, and the Canton Art Institute .
